The county plans to make the proclamation official at its regular Commissioners Court meeting on October 13 at 9:30 a.m. This year marks the 580th anniversary of the proclamation of Hunminjeongeum and the 100th anniversary of Hangul Day. The draft proclamation cites the county\u2019s rapidly growing economic, educational, and cultural ties with Korea, including Samsung Electronics\u2019 semiconductor facility in Taylor and the Korean suppliers that have followed it to the area.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Meanwhile, with support from the foundation, Taylor High School in Texas launched \u201cKorean 1,\u201d its first for-credit Korean-language course, beginning in the 2026\u201327 school year, with about 30 non-Korean students enrolled. Foundation Chair Eunice Lee, Chair Emeritus Monica Ryu, and Secretary General Mijin Baek are also expected to attend a Hangul Day ceremony at Los Angeles City Council on October 9 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Hangul Day.
